Per the website, the Santa Cruz Redwoods RV Resort is nestled in the California redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The campground is situated on the beautiful San Lorenzo River and backed by Henry Cowell State Park. The surrounding area features beaches, golf courses, rock climbing, local mountain and bike trails, and waterfalls.

Campsites

Call the campground to verify all amenities that are important to you.

Type: RV Hookups. Note, the website does not mention tent campsites, but based on my previous stays I’ve seen tents on platforms that are provided by the campground. You’ll want to call the campground to verify if tent camping is still offered. *NO TENTS ALLOWED ON RV SITES*

Amenities: All RV Sites are Full Hook-up. Electric, Water, Sewer, and Cable TV.

Campfires – Fires are allowed in each RV site. Guests are allowed to bring their own fire pit as long as it sits off the ground and no ashes can fall on the ground. Guests may also rent a firepit and/or purchase wood from the office.

• Fire Pit Rental = $5 (One time fee for entire stay)
• Firewood = $9 per bundle
• *DO NOT DUMP ASHES ON THE GROUND*

For tent campers a community fire pit is provided in the center of the tent camping section. They do not allow individual fires in the tent area. Tents are only allowed in the tent area.

My family loves visiting the Santa Cruz area because of all of the activities, such as beaches, fishing, museums, state parks, etc. There is so much to do and many of the activities are low cost or free. Below are some links to Santa Cruz activities reviews that I’ve written:

And, Santa Cruz Redwoods RV Resort has been one of our favorite places to stay when in the Santa Cruz area. It is close to the town of Felton, which has restaurants and grocery stores, and is relatively close to the freeway to get to Santa Cruz.

We like the layout of the campground in that you’re surrounded by the beautiful redwoods. Some campsites are close together (not as much privacy) and some are oriented where you get more privacy.

All of the streets are paved, but some of the streets are narrow in my opinion. As a result, I tend to choose campsites where the roads are wider so it is easier for me to park my 30 foot trailer. They do have some drive through sights, but those typically are not as private as some of the back in campsites.

We visited the campground river, but I didn’t see how we could get to the river’s shore to go swimming or fishing as advertised. Maybe we weren’t looking in the right area. The area that we were able to view the river was steep and high off the ground from the river shore.

We visited the clubhouse (walked through it), but didn’t spend much time there and we haven’t visited the laundry or the bathrooms because our stays have been relatively short, 3-4 days, and because we use our trailer bathroom.

We saw kids riding their bikes around the campground, playing on the jungle gym and playing basketball. So, if you have bikes, scooters or basketball, you may want to bring them.

As with all campgrounds it is always a good idea to visit it before you stay (if possible) so you get an idea about the campground layout and so you can pick out your favorite campsites.
